The Problem

Animals are threatened by a number of viral diseases. The most cost-effective way to control these is through vaccination. But viruses naturally change as they reproduce, leading to decreased vaccine efficacy.

The Solution

LARAD uses our innovative virus-like-particle (VLP) technology to produce vaccines and diagnostic reagents that can be rapidly customized to keep pace with changing viruses and offer effective protection from and diagnosis of animal diseases.

Our Mission

To improve animal health through the prevention of viral diseases. We create better, safer and more economical VLP vaccines for viral diseases.

Egg production in the US is a $7 billion/yr industry.
Broiler production in the US is approximately a $23 billion/yr business.

Ohio is the second-largest egg producing state with an estimated value of more than $500 million/year. Ohio contributes approximately $175 million to the broiler industry. Together the egg and broiler industry create more than 15,000 jobs in Ohio.

Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD) is a global problem that threatens the supply of poultry meat and eggs.

The virus that causes IBD is mutating (changing). The current vaccines are decades old and no longer protect chickens from the disease.

The LARAD Solution - A better vaccine.

Through our innovative VLP technology, LARAD can provide vaccines and diagnostic reagents that easily keep pace with the ever-changing kaleidoscope of viruses that cause animal diseases and threaten the global food supply.
